How we handle reading activity, support messages and your privacy choices.

Who is responsible

The Fly Times is operated by Lofi Analytics Ltd Co, the controller of personal data collected through this website. Our legal information includes our mailing address. Use the support form and choose “Privacy request” to contact us about your data.

Reading the website

Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes requests to deliver the website and protect it from abuse. Those requests can include your IP address, browser information, requested page and request time. We use operational information to maintain the service and investigate errors.

You do not need to create an account or provide an email address to read an issue. The website does not process payments.

Messages you send

If you use our support form, we receive the category, message and submission time. If you put contact details or other personal information in the message, we receive those too. We store messages in our Cloudflare database so we can address feedback, corrections and privacy requests.

Please do not send passwords, payment details, health information or other sensitive information. Include a contact address only if you want a reply.

Measurement and privacy choices

We collect storage-free event counts, such as page views and reading actions, in Cloudflare. Each count uses a new random reference rather than a browser identifier. Cloudflare event records are removed after 90 days. These counts help us understand which parts of the publication are useful. They are forwarded to PostHog only after you allow optional analytics.

Optional PostHog analytics and session replay use a browser identifier to record navigation, device information and interface interactions only after you choose “Allow.” You may choose “No thanks” and continue reading. Message fields are excluded and inputs are masked. We ask for this choice worldwide.

Your choice, its version and timestamp are stored locally in your browser. Use “Privacy choices” in the footer to change it or withdraw consent. Withdrawal stops future optional collection. PostHog event records currently remain until deleted; its automatic event expiry is not active for our project. Recordings have a 30-day retention period, after which provider deletion may take additional time. You can request deletion through Support. We do not sell personal information or use advertising trackers.

News and generated text

We use published news source material to prepare sensory inputs and text for a computational fly-brain model. A language model may help prepare these inputs and phrases before the simulation; the fly-brain model then selects the published text. Support messages are excluded from this process. Links and email subscriptions

Source links and RSS readers are operated by their respective providers. If you follow a link to an email subscription page, that service collects your subscription information under its own notice. This website does not collect newsletter email addresses. Any email subscription is separate from reading here.

Purpose, storage and your rights

We process service and support data to operate the publication, respond to messages and protect the website. We rely on our legitimate interests for these activities and on consent for optional recording. Data may be processed in the United States and other places where our providers operate.

Support messages are kept for up to one year. Automated test messages are removed after seven days. You can request access, correction or deletion through Support; include your message reference and enough information to locate it. We may need to confirm that a request concerns your own information. Applicable law may give you rights to portability, restriction or objection, and to complain to your local data-protection authority.

The publication is intended for a general audience interested in news and science, and is not directed at children. If you believe a child has sent personal information, contact us to request its removal.
